PIERCE — Election Commissioner Shannon Wragge released the results of the 2024 Primary Election last week. There were no local contests to report. In Pierce County, a total of 1,204 votes were cast for the primary, with 1,069 of those votes coming from the Republican Party, 88 Democratic, 3 Libertarian and 44 nonpartisan.
In the Republican primary for U.S. President, there were 907 votes for Donald Trump, 116 for Nikki Haley and 18 for Perry Johnson. In the Demo - cratic primary, 52 county residents voted for Joseph Biden, while 25 voted for Dean Phillips. In the Republican senate race (six-year term), Deb Fischer received the most votes with 850, while Arron Kowalski received 177 votes. For the two-year term senate race, Pete Ricketts received 894 votes; John Weaver, 106, and Mac Stevens, 39.
For Congressman of District 3, Adrian Smith received the majority of the Republican votes with 773. John Walz received 167 and Robert McCuiston received 60. For Congressman of District 1, John Steinkraus received 201 votes and Tom Kuether received 149 votes.
On the Democratic side, there were two write-in votes for the six-year senate term, while Preston Love Jr. received 63 votes for the two-year term. Daniel Ebers received 44 votes for District 3 Congressman while David Else received 23.
