Gerdes shoot, swing tournament is June 8

PIERCE – The Brandon Gerdes Memorial Shoot and Swing Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 8.

PIERCE — The Brandon Gerdes Memorial Shoot and Swing Tournament will be held on Saturday, June 8.

Brandon Gerdes was a junior at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln when he was killed in a semi-truck accident on Dec. 6, 2016. He was an avid out- doorsman, who loved to hunt and fish.

At the time of his death, Gerdes was starting his own farm/ranch operation and truly loved the land. Brandon was a friend to all who knew him, and he continues to be missed by many.

This is the 8th Annual Brandon Gerdes Memorial Trap Shoot and Golf Outing. The Trap Shoot will take place at the Northeast Nebraska Shooting Association located north of Pierce. Direction signs will be posted.

Event registration begins at 8 a.m. and shooting starts at 9 a.m. The afternoon golf outing is a two-person scramble at the Pierce Community Golf Course with check-in at 1 p.m. and a 2 p.m. shotgun start.

Participants can choose to compete in one or both events. Reservations can be made on the Brandon Gerdes Memorial Trap Shoot Facebook page. Space is limited and payment is required at the time of registration by using Venmo or contacting a committee member. To ensure you receive a T-shirt, register or order by June 1st.

Raffle prizes will be drawn during the trap shoot and pin prizes will be given during the golf outing. In addition, silent and live auctions will be held at the golf sourse. There will be something for everyone.

Spectators are welcome, so bring a lawn chair and enjoy the day while honoring Brandon’s memory. It is a day Brandon would love.

Tinker’s Concessions will be set up at both locations.

Proceeds from last year’s event were donated to Brandon’s Bushel of Blessings Backpack Program, 5th Quarter Events, two children’s Christmas shopping events, area food pantries, Hands for Christ, Helping Hands Youth Ministry, Pierce Senior Center, the Osmond Ambulance Fund, school lunch balances, and flag football fees.

The Foundation also funded the new dock installed at Gilman Park and placed a memorial bench at the Pierce County Fairgrounds.

“In the past seven years, the foundation is honored to have donated over $145,000 to our local communities,” said Corey and Lisa Gerdes, Brandon’s parents. “We feel blessed to have your ongoing support. Please follow the Brandon Gerdes Memorial Trap Shoot Facebook Page for further information.”
