Forty years ago, in another lifetime, I lived on a farm. There were parts that I liked — the peace and quiet, the beautiful old barn, the cats and kittens. But there were also parts that I didn’t like — the hogs and hog smell, and not knowing how to do things because I didn’t grow up on a farm but being ordered to do it anyway rather than being taught.
