OSMOND — Ed Hoppe, owner, opened Hoppe Motor on Feb. 3, 2025, in the front section of the former B&C building located at 3rd and Meadow streets in Osmond.
Ed had been considering a career change for a couple of years. When Brian Lorenz of Lorenz Automotive relocated with the NAPA store, he wasn’t going to offer his services on small motors anymore.
Ed thought this would be the right opportunity to open his own shop. He will be offering services on outdoor power equipment such as lawn mowers, golf carts, side-by-sides and more.
Ed will be the only employee, but will get help from his sons, Ethen and Emmett, as the need arises.
Ed started tinkering with small engines as a kid in his father and uncle’s shop in Wausa, Hoppe Motor Co. Over the years, it evolved into cars and other vehicles, eventually spending 20 years working on John Deere equipment in Plainview.
The shop will be open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; closed for lunch and parts runs. See the ad on Page 3 of this issue for more information.
