TeamMates Mentoring, Kid Scoop expand literacy, mentorship

LINCOLN – Nebraska students are gaining more access to mentorship and literacy resources, thanks to an exciting new partnership between TeamMates Mentoring and Kid Scoop News. As part of the State of Nebraska’s READ Grant, TeamMates will sponsor the March, April, May, and September issues of Kid Scoop News, expanding its reach and impact in classrooms across the state.

This collaboration strengthens youth literacy and mentorship by providing engaging reading materials while inspiring students to connect with mentors. The sponsorship allows Kid Scoop News to expand its coverage, bringing the magic of reading to thousands more students and involving even more Nebraska Press Association (NPA) member newspapers in the project.

Mentorship and Literacy: A Powerful Connection Each sponsored issue of Kid Scoop News will feature a special TeamMates mentoring page, including: • A new and exclusive TeamMates word search each month

• Inspiring stories of mentors and mentees

• A powerful reminder: Every child deserves a mentor “Mentoring matters because students matter. TeamMates Mentoring could not be more excited to partner with the Nebraska PressAssociation to bring Kid Scoop News to classrooms across the state of Nebraska to reiterate the importance of reading literacy, especially for elementary students,” DeMoine Adams, TeamMates Mentoring CEO, said.

Newspaper Professionals: Mentors in Their Communities Nebraska’s newspaper industry has long been a cornerstone of community connection, and mentorship is a natural extension of that role.
