Captain Johansen retires after 22 years of service

LINCOLN — On Feb. 2, Nebraska Air National Guard, 155th Civil Engineer Squadron, Lincoln Air Base recognized and celebrated Justin Johansen’s retirement and his many accomplishments during his 22 years and eight months of service.

During his retirement ceremony, Justin was joined by his family and friends, which included his wife Kara, daughter Brooke, son Bryce, parents Jeanice and Glenn Johnasen, parents-in-law Kim and Ed Daeges, grandparents LaVon Moes, Mardell Johansen Tech and Ken Tech.

Justin enlisted in the Air Force on May 27, 2002, directly following gradu- ation from Battle Creek Public High School. During his first 16 years of enlisted service, Justin achieved the rank of Master Sergeant/E6 as a Civil

Engineer (CE) electrician working on high voltage utilities and low voltage

facility systems, as well as air field lighting systems.

Justin then transitioned to the officer corps to close out his remaining six

years of service as a CE Readiness Flight Commander, followed by CE Opera- tions Flight Commander, before officially retiring at the rank of Captain/O3.

While in the Air Force, Justin had deployments to Qatar and Kuwait, maintaining and developing expeditionary electrical systems, and to Jordan, managing large-scale military construction projects. Throughout his career, he also was able to travel to various CONUS and OCUNUS training locations such as North Dakota, North Carolina, Maine, Georgia, Florida, Hawaii, Norway and Japan.

Justin will continue working his civilian job as an electrical engineer at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and enjoy additional long-awaited weekends off with his family.
