NELIGH — On Tuesday, April 15, Osmond competed in the Neligh-Oakdale Invitational. The nine-team meet was won by Elkhorn Valley on both the girls’and boys’divisions. The weather was wonderful at 66 degrees and a very light breeze.
Starting in the field events, senior Carson Bolz earned the fourth-place medal in the discus with a toss of 117 ft., 3 in., and Kaleb Gardner just missed the finals with his best throw ever of 106 ft., 3 in. Carson also finished in sixth place in the shot put with a distance of 39 ft., 2 in.
The Tigers scored twice in the 800 meters with Caleb Vinson taking third place in 2:17.0 and Jaxon Vinson finishing fifth in 2:21.0. Senior Noah Geneski earned two medals in his hurdle events. Noah placed fifth in the 110 high hurdles in 18.0 and finished sixth in the 300 hurdles in 47.9.
Jack Berg ran a very good 3,200 meters, just getting edged out at the line by Brandl of Humphrey-Lindsey.
Jack's fifth-place time was 11:49.5. He also ran well in the 1,600 meters but was just out of the scoring.
The boys scored in the 1,600-relay. Team members Caleb and Jaxon Vinson, Mason True and Noah Geneski covered the distance in 3:58.6, good for fifth place.
Though the girls recorded a few personal best efforts, no one placed or made the finals.
The Osmond teams will compete in the Tom Martin Memorial/ Wausa Track & Field Invitational on Thursday, April 24, at the Pierce athletic complex.
