Where were you when the lights went out

OSMOND — Monday, April 28, was an interesting one as far as weather — and other events — was concerned.

That morning around 11 a.m., the power suddenly went out.Apparently, NPPD lost power to their Belden substation, which delivers power to several communities, including those in parts of Pierce, Wayne, Knox, Cedar, Thurston and Dixon counties.

By 11:45 a.m., the company had identified the issue and NPPD crews were working to clear broken equipment and assess the damage. By 1 p.m., they stated that the issue couldn't be easily fixed and could take several hours, however, power here and in several other communities was restored around 1:30 p.m.

Pierce County and other parts of northeast Nebraska were then in a Severe Thunderstorm Watch on Monday from 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Around 6 p.m., a little rain fell, but it was accompanied by pretty strong winds that kicked up quite a dust storm.

The rest of this week looks to be pretty calm, with temperatures in the 60s and then into the mid-70s this weekend and through next week.
