Recipe of the Week

Burnt Sugar Cake 3½ C flour 3½ tsp. baking powder 1½ C granulated sugar 4 eggs

2/3 C water ½ C butter 3 Tbl. burnt sugar syrup Cream butter and sugar. Add the beaten yolks and the burnt sugar syrup. Add flour and water together gradually, beating until well mixed. Add beaten whites of eggs last.

Burnt Sugar Syrup

(for use int he Burnt Sugar Cake) 1 C granulated sugar ½ C boiling water Burn 1 cup graduated sugar over flame until dark brown, then add ½ cup boiling water and let boil until it forms a thick syrup.
