Ortmeier shares class projects
Joe Ortmeier, who is retiring as industrial technology instructor after many years at Osmond Community School, shared pictures and information about some of the projects the seniors worked on this year.
The projects include those from the construction, manufacturing welding and manufacturing woodworking classes. ————— The scale model house has been part of the construction systems class for probably 35 years or more. It goes along with the construction syllabus as we study planning a house then work on a floor plan for our model house.
We study footings and foundations, then construct them on the model as well as floor framing, framing walls and ceilings, then the tough part, the roof framing.
This year’s class of Cody Gansebom, Jaxon Vinson, and Erin Wagner all worked on one house and decided to make it a two story with attached garage.
The scale of one foot of house equals one inch of model house. They did an excellent job, very precise, with good craftsmanship.
The manufacturing welding class has completed their technical and safety studies of welding and were repairing a welding table in the picture. Welders were Jaxon Vinson, Noah Geneski, and Cody Gansebom.
The manufacturing woodworking class was asked by the Osmond Park Board to repair the four train cars in the park. The class removed any broken or damaged areas and replaced them. The manufacturing class of 2006 originally built the train cars as a class project. This year’s class members were Hudson Napier, Cody Gansebom, Jaxon Vinson and Noah Geneski.
