HUMPHREY — On Wednesday, May 14, Osmond traveled to Humphrey for the D-3 district track meet. Archangels Catholic hosted the meet at the Humphrey Sports Complex and the weather was breezy and temperatures in the mid 80’s.
Osmond sophomore Caleb Vinson qualified for next week's state track meet by placing second in the 800 meters. The race started as most 800 races this season for the Tigers, with Jaxon Vinson leading Caleb for the first lap before Caleb would pick up the pace and extend. Bancroft-Rosalie’s Jaden Browing was able to hold off Caleb, winning the race in 2:10.55. Caleb’s time was 2:12.63 and Jaxon was third at 2:18.03.
Jack Berg finished in fourth place in the 3,200 meters in a time of 12:19.43.
Noah Geneski placed fifth in the 110 high hurdles in his fastest time of the season of 18.02. Noah was also sixth in the 300 hurdles in 46.62. Mason True finished in fifth place in the 400 meters, covering the lap in 55.84; Hartington’s Cole Rosener won the race
in 52.69. Mason also made the finals of the 200 meters but did not place.
The 1,600-relay team placed fifth in a time of 3:55.87. Team members were Caleb Vinson, Jaxon Vinson, Noah Geneski and Mason True.
The girls had a pair of medal winners. Deanna Kumm earned a sixth- place finish in the 3,200 meters in a time of 17:16.06. Freshman Korrine Moes ran her best time ever in the 300 hurdles for a sixth-place finish. Her time was 56.58. Korrine also made the finals of the triple jump but did not place.
“I am proud of the effort our teams put forth on a hot and windy day,” noted Coach Joe Ortmeier. “Congratulations to Caleb for qualifying for the state meet and thank you to our seniors, Jaxon and Noah, for their hard work and leadership. We will miss you.”
