BLOOMFIELD — On Thursday, July 10, 12 members of P.E.O. Chapter
BE traveled to Bloomfield to celebrate 75 years of tradition and friendship. Bloomfield Chapter EM acted as host this year for a gathering of sisters from P.E.O. chapters in Pierce, Antelope, Cedar and Knox counties.
There were 30 women present despite the severe weather warnings in the area that evening. As is the custom, a delicious meal was served, followed by a short program.
This year’s speaker was Danelle Miller, along with her husband, Eric.
Residents of Bloomfield, the Millers are the owners of Grandpa Dan's Pop - corn. Danelle explained the history of the Grandpa Dan's which began as a fundraiser for local scouts by her father.
The popcorn business has thrived for some years using a vendor truck to sell the popcorn at fairs and local events. Recently, a building was purchased with the dream of opening a store front. Currently, the building has allowed Danelle and Eric to install equipment to maximize and streamline their popcorn making.
Once the store opens, Danelle envisions a gathering space for Bloomfield and area residents that can be used for multiple purposes; plus there will be popcorn! P.E.O. Chapter BE sisters admired the Miller’s commitment to bringing something unique and multi-purpose to their community.
P.E.O. is an organization whose philanthropic mission is the education of women. Loans, grants, and scholarships are available to women of all ages. Information regarding these international projects is available by emailing Chapter BE at [email protected] or talking to any P.E.O. member.
