June egg production down 5%

United States egg production totaled 8.33 billion during June 2025, down 5% from last year. Production included 7.07 billion table eggs, and 1.25 billion hatching eggs, of which 1.14 billion were broiler-type and 107 million were egg-type. The average number of layers during June 2025 totaled 352 million, down 5% from last year. June egg production per 100 layers was 2,365 eggs, down 1% from June 2024.

Total layers in the United States on July 1, 2025 totaled 353 million, down 4% from last year. The 353 million layers consisted of 288 million layers producing table or market type eggs, 60.4 million layers producing broiler-type hatching eggs, and 4.30 million layers producing egg-type hatching eggs. Rate of lay per day on July 1, 2025, averaged 78.9 eggs per 100 layers, down slightly from July 1, 2024.

Egg-Type Chicks Hatched Up 8 Percent

Egg-type chicks hatched during June 2025 totaled 59.5 million, up 8% from June 2024. Eggs in incubators totaled 57.3 million on July 1, 2025, up 14% a year ago.

Domestic placements of egg-type pullet chicks for future hatchery supply flocks by leading breeders totaled 227 thousand during June 2025, up 4% from June 2024.

Broiler-Type Chicks Hatched Up 1%

Broiler-type chicks hatched during June 2025 totaled 856 million, up 1% from June 2024. Eggs in incubators totaled 754 million on July 1, 2025, up 1% from a year ago.

Leading breeders placed 9.38 million broiler-type pullet chicks for future domestic hatchery supply flocks during June 2025, down 4% from June 2024.
