Nebraska Extension in Pierce County is excited to welcome Hailey (Walmsley) Meis to the Nebraska Extension team! Hailey is joining as the Rural Prosperity Nebraska Specialist in Pierce County, serving seven surrounding counties: Cedar, Pierce, Madison, Stanton, Wayne, Dixon, and Dakota. Rural Prosperity Nebraska is the community development arm of Ne- braska Extension and the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.
The program works statewide in four main focus areas: Economic Devel opment, Leadership Development, People Attraction & Placemaking, and Regional Food Systems.
Hailey has a passion for developing people and strengthening rural communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural education from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and has spent the past four years teaching agriculture. Originally from Madison County, she recently moved back to the Elgin area after getting married in July 2025.
