Class of 2038 begins their educational career

OSMOND — Twenty-seven kindergarten students began their educational careers at Osmond Community School and St. Mary’s Catholic School — 10 at St. Mary’s and 17 at the public school. Instructors Amber Harrison and Riley Vinson provided the following information about their students.

Osmond Community School

(Amber Harrison) The kindergarten class of 202526 at Osmond Community School consists of 17 students — eight boys and nine girls. The students soon jumped into learning within the reading and math curriculum within a couple of weeks of school. The students have reviewed letter names, some sight words, and numbers 1-10 over the course of the weeks, with an introduction into addition and subtraction as well.

The students are excited to learn new things and are looking forward to the weeks to come. The kindergarten class picked recess, center play, and PE as their favorite activities so far. The students would also like to share a few things about themselves.

(Riley Vinson) Kindergarten is off to a great start this school year! In these first few weeks, students have been busy learning how classroom procedures work, helping them feel confident CLASS OF 2038 BEGINS EDUCATIONAL CAREER and ready to learn each day. They’ve also been working hard on letter recognition and counting skills, building a strong foundation for reading and math.

Each morning begins with calendar time, where the class practices the days of the week, the months of the year, and talks about the weather. The students have noticed a recent shift in temperature and are excited to see signs of fall approaching. They’ve been discussing what fall weather is like and are looking forward to all the changes the new season brings.

Students have also enjoyed learning about Noah’s Ark. They learned that God always has a plan for us—an important reminder as they begin their journey through school.

It’s been a joyful and busy start, and these kindergarteners are eager to keep learning and growing together throughout the year!
