OSMOND — Austin Jochum, grandson of Randy and Linda Jochum of Osmond and son of Matt and Amanda (Mowinkel) Jochum of Bennington, recently broke a record at Rolling Hills Country Club.
Austin was out golfing with his grandfather, Randy, on Wednesday, July 30, when he shot a 28, beating a record of 31 previously set by his own father, Matt, and one other person. Austin’s round included seven birdies, one eagle and one bogey.
Austin, a sophomore at Bennington High School, is on the school’s golf team and qualified for the state Class B golf tournament, where he placed 11th.
A week before shooting the recordbreaking score, he had won the Nebraska Juniors Golf Championship in Lincoln, shooting a three under 68 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club.
Austin comes by his golfing talent naturally. His father, Matt, a 2000 Osmond High School graduate, quali- fied for the Class C-2 state tournament all four years of high school, placing fourth at state in both his junior and senior year.
