A view from the volleyball court

(By Coach Paige Kumm) This season has been a large and powerful reminder that success isn't always measured by wins and losses. The girls have shown great resilience, growth, and heart on the court.

Every match pushing them to rise to the challenge and push themselves to communicate (a key factor in the game of volleyball) better, smarter but not less aggressive, and to not let up (I'm sure if you asked any of the varsity girls, I have other words for this phrase. Especially when we are aware that the opponent is feisty).

The varsity group is constantly showing their determination and spirit, including showing the younger part of the team how it's done. We celebrate the little things like handling a tough pass/dig even if it's not perfect to handling the ball and 'taking care of business' to get the kill and bring home a few w's.

We are most fun to watch when we play tougher teams as it shows what the girls are really made of. Communication, staying aggressive, and just having fun on the court have been key components to how the following practice is planned out.

Unfortunately when you are presented with volleyball scores it looks similar to that of a soccer score. It doesn't show the battle the two teams just went through. We've been very close with a lot of the games. Showing true grit, having good character, and coming together as a team mattered just as much as the final score.

Watching these girls play these games show that they are building strength, confidence, and unity. All qualities that we know will carry them to future success!
