Pierce County 4-H Shooting Sports to hold organizational meeting

Do you want to learn how to shoot safely? Do you want to meet new people from around the state? The Pierce County Shooting Sports 4-H club is ready to start their upcoming year.

Youth who participate in the club, whether they hunt, shoot competitively, or just shoot for fun will have a thorough understanding of firearm safety. The experience you will gain will provide you the knowledge and skills neces-

sary to make positive decisions when you encounter firearms in the future.

All of the instructors are Nebraska 4-H Certified Instructors. There are approximately 100,000 youth who participate annually in shooting sports programs in the U.S. There has never been an accident of any type in a Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports program.

Under the supervision of certified instructors, members will learn proper firearm and archery safety and shooting techniques. Competitions are avail - able for those who are interested. We offer instruction in rifle (BB gun, air rifle and .22 rifle), archery (target and 3D), and pistol (air and .22).

BB gun, air rifle and air pistol will meet on Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the 4-H building at the Pierce County fairgrounds. Archery will meet on Oct. 7 for new members and Oct. 21 for returning members at the Norfolk Archery Club indoor range (4th and Phillip) at 6:30 p.m. Please use the south door on Philip Street.

All youth ages 8 to 18 as of Jan. 1, 2026, are welcome to come with an adult. Please contact the following leaders if you have questions: Jen and Dave Thomsen, 402-329-4504; Linda Latimer, 402-329-4500; Gene Thomsen, 402-582-3767; James Jones, 402-649-1962; Jason Holan, 402-649-8410.
