OSMOND — A new member has been welcomed to the Osmond Housing Authority board of directors. With Cindy Hoffman retiring from her position, Michael Koehler has agreed to fill that slot.
Current board members include John Schmit, president; Kelly Hodson, vice president; Ross Stelling, secretary-treasurer; Walter Aschoff; Deb Schmit, and Michael Koehler. Joanne Ekberg is the manager of the apartments.
The Osmond Housing Authority provides affordable housing at Westside Apartments. Individuals and families who qualify are able to pay rent, based on income per USDA guidelines. Osmond Housing, Inc. is a non-profit orga nization founded in 1975.
The board meets about three or four times a year. They have an annual budget meeting, and submit their budget to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Housing Service, which funds the organization.
The board members and apartment manager said, “We’d like to thank Cindy for her many years of service. She’s been here since 2002 — a long-time commitment, which is pretty awesome. We appreciated her, a lot!”
Joanne explained, “The main role of the housing authority is to provide comfortable living space for those who need it, and the community has been really needing it for a very long time.”
To inquire about renting at Westside, individuals may call Joanne, call the city office or contact any of the board members.
Westside Apartments has four housing units, which are currently all full. Joanne said if someone calls and there are no openings, she can refer them to Pierce, which is usually full too, or one of the other apartment complexes in town.
