OSMOND — Last Thursday, Oct. 23, Osmond alum Dylan Schmit stopped here with the women’s basketball team of Mayville State University in Mayville, ND, on their way to Hastings for their first game of the season. Dylan is recruiting coordinator and assistant coach for the team.

This is Dylan's first year at May ville State University. He graduated from Osmond High School in 2019 and graduated from the University of South Dakota in 2023. Last year he was an assistant women’s basketball coach at Northwestern College in Orange City, IA.

“Since arriving (at Mayville) I have enjoyed my time doing workouts with athletes and recruiting the next class,” Dylan commented.

Dylan is a part time professor at Mayville as well, teaching in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation division.

Dylan was a member of the OHS basketball team all four years of high school, including the 2018 statequalifying team and the 2019 state champion runner-up team.

Dylan, Coach Ryan Carpenter and the team were treated to a meal served by his parents, Tom and Dottie Schmit, and Doug and Denise Schmit and Randy and Linda Jochum, before finishing the trip to Hastings.
