American LegionAuxiliary to hold holiday gathering in November
OSMOND — American Legion Auxiliary Unit 326 met Monday, Oct. 20, at Osmond Public Library. The eight members present recited the Pledge of Allegiance, and a prayer was offered.
Diane Borst and Barb Rohde gave a report on the Oct. 5 district meeting held at the Osmond city auditorium. Approximately 40 people attended. Diane has quilt tickets and will display the quilt at several downtown businesses.
Discussion on the school essay contest continued. The question was asked if it should be hosted for all grades as in the past or just junior high and high school. It will be discussed again in November. The topic is “Celebrating America's 250th birthday and the veterans who fought for our freedom.”
The November holiday gathering will be held at the United Methodist Church education building on Monday, Nov. 17, with a catered turkey dinner beginning at 11:30 a.m. All attending are asked to bring a salad or dessert, and bring a wrapped Christmas gift for Yanks to be distributed to the Norfolk Veterans Home. Members should RSVP to Chris Adamson by Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Thank you to all who brought cookies for the hamburger feed benefit on Oct. 15. It was a success!
Upcoming events include the Veterans Day program in November at Osmond Community School and the Christmas Wishes program on Saturday, Dec. 13. The patriotic quilt winner will be announced that night.
