OSMOND — Opening competition for the Osmond winter sports teams will begin this week, with girls’ basketball and wrestling on Saturday.
Basketball Starts Thursday
The Lady Tiger basketball team will open the 2025-26 campaign on the road this year, traveling to Bancroft-Rosalie on Thursday, Dec. 4, and will return home for a contest against Creighton on Friday, Dec. 6.
On Monday, Nov. 17, seven girls reported to the gym for the first day of basketball practice. Seniors on this year’s team are Piper Hoffman, Carriana Kumm, and Kaleigh Miller. Addison Miller is a junior. Korrine Moes returns for her sophomore season. Making their high school basketball debut this winter are freshmen Sunny Geneski and Katarina Miller. Captains leading the Tigers this year are seniors Carriana Kumm and Kaleigh Miller. All returning athletes are returning letter winners.
Coach Bradley Wright commented, “We saw a lot of individual improvement throughout the season last year and are hoping to continue that this season, correlating into an improving team that gets stronger throughout the season. ”
The Hawks are coached by Wright and Kennedy Moes.
Bowlers Roll on Friday
Bowling is a new sport for Osmond this year, which will co-op with Plainview as the Pirates. Their season begins on Friday, Dec. 5, with a dual against Spalding Academy at Main Street Alley in Osmond.
There is a boys’ team and a girls’ team. Members of the boys’ team are Cooper Gubbels, Donovan Heiman, Jaren Hergert, Aiden Kemnitz and Connor Slater. On the girls’ team are (Continued from Page 1)

Osmond Wrestlers Open Saturday
The first wrestling meet of the sea son for the Osmond Tiger boys is on Saturday, Dec. 6. The team will travel to Creighton for its annual invitational meet which begins at 9:30 a.m.
The wrestling letter winners returning for action this year are Tate Stolpe, Kaleb Gardner, Caleb Vinson, Mason True and Aiden Stech. Others wrestling this year are Lane Murray and Hayden Schreiber. The ir coach is Nathan Vinson, with Patrick Vinson the assistant coach.
Girls’ Wrestling is New
This year, there will be a girls’wrestling team. As a co-op with Plainview, they will wrestle as the Plainview Pirates. Matt Chambers is the girls’ wrestling head coach.
The team includes freshmen Tiegan Stewart, Katelynn Mosel, Sophia Wortman, Neveah Newton, Jaden May, Chloe Mullins and Damiana Strong; sophomore Adyson Poellot; juniors Deanna Kumm, Makenzie Mosel, Charley Pittet and Ashlyn Forbes, and seniors Morgan Nincehelser and Diana Scott.
The girls’ wresting team begins the season on Monday, Dec. 8, with an invitational at West Holt.
