Unified Bowling takes third at District Tournament
ended on Monday, Dec. 1, with our district competition in Wayne. Teams participating were from Bloomfield, O’Neill, Omaha Nation, Osmond, Plainview, Ponca, Randolph, Wayne and Winnebago.
Each school is only allowed to bring one team to districts. The team representing Osmond was: Matthew Spangler, Kooper Gubbles, Meagan Wagner, Donovan Heiman, and Jack Berg.
The Osmond Tigers scored 623 points and earned third place. Wayne won our district competition and Omaha Nation was runner up. Osmond was just 24 points behind district runner-up! Great job, team.
High single game score for Osmond was 123. Leading the way for the Tigers at districts was Kooper. One of our measures of success is 7 or more pins on the first throw - Kooper was 100% in the frames he bowled. He and Meagan tied as leader with 56% of their frames either a strike or a spare. All the bowlers worked hard and did well.
The whole Unified Bowling Tiger team this year included: athletes Matthew Spangler and Payton Oltjenbruns, and partners Kooper Gubbels, Meagan Wagner, Donovan Heiman, Jack Berg, Ava Kumm, Delilah Koehler and Drake Kingham. I greatly appreciated working with our team and their dedication to getting to all of our practices.
Team Matthew had a regular season total score average of 637 and Team Payton had an average of 452 in our five matches. Team Matthew had a high match pin total of 660, and Team Matthew 512.
A focus we have is the first ball pin fall of seven or more: our athletes continued to improve through the year - with Payton doing so on about 30% of his frames, and Matthew with about 42%. Leading the partners was Kooper with nearly 80% and Jack with 65%. One of our freshmen, Ava, had just over 59%. Team leaders with either a strike or a spare per frame were Kooper (49%), Jack (45%), and Meagan (40%).
This year we were able to practice alongside Plainview's first-ever Uni - fied Bowling team - it was great being able to be with them also.
A special thank you to Main Street Alley and Dennis Kuhl for all the help and support this year.
