Lady Tigers open basketball season

(By Coach Bradley Wright) The Osmond Lady Tiger basketball team opened its season with an away game at Bancroft-Rosalie, followed by a home game against Creighton.

Tigers vs. Panthers

BANCROFT — On Thursday, Dec.

4, the Lady Tigers opened their basketball season on the road by traveling to Bancroft-Rosalie to face the Panthers.

The home squad was able to jump out to an early lead and never looked back.

Osmond played hard and learned a lot in their first game, but ended up short on the scoreboard with the final score reading 63-9 in favor of B-R.

With limited numbers out this year, game reps will be so important and a great learning experience for our team, because we just simply can't simulate these situations in practice every day.

Senior Kaleigh Miller had a strong presence for the Tigers as she dropped in 7 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, and turned away 4 shots from the Panthers.

Korrine Moes led the team with a game-high 12 total rebounds.

Tigers vs. Bulldogs

OSMOND — On Saturday, Dec.

6, the Tigers returned home for a matchup against the Creighton Bulldogs. Osmond was able to take the lead early in the first and held on to that lead through the first quarter up 9-5.

In the second quarter, Creighton had turned up the defensive effort putting on a press and switching their 1/2 court offense into man. Creighton gained the lead in the second quarter taking a 19-15 lead into the halftime break.

In a fairly even third quarter, the visitors were able to expand their lead slightly 30-23 heading into the final stanza of the game. The defen sive switch by the Bulldogs early in the game was a difference maker as Osmond struggled to find a rhythm after that and Osmond would drop their second game of the season by a final score of 49-23.

Osmond really showed a lot of growth from game 1 to game 2 in a short turn around. This team played with a lot of grit this game and look to continue improving each time out on the court.

Kaleigh Miller again put out a strong performance, finishing the game with a double-double as she poured in 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Carrie Kumm also grabbed 12 rebounds and was a thief on the defensive end, stealing the ball 5 times from the Bulldogs.
