third-place finish on Monday, Dec. 8, at the West Holt invitational wrestling tournament. Finishing third out of 14 teams was a good start to the season.
There was some tough competition so to place five girls in top 4 of their respective weights put us up there as far as team scores go. We also had some girls get some wins and pins that added to the team score even though they just missed out on placing.
I was really proud of the effort of all 12 girls. Many of us were taking the mat in a varsity competition for the first time. I was pleased with the improvement each time out on the mat, as the girls looked more comfortable as the day went on. We look to carry that over into this weekend.

The team had a runner-up finish and 11 individual medalists at the Elkhorn Valley wrestling tournament on Saturday, Dec. 13. Four girls came home as individual champions.
We talked all week about continuing to make little improvements in different positions and finding one area to continue to work at. As a group we met that goal of trying to get better every time on the mat. It was great to see some of the things that we worked on in practice come out in the matches and seeing the girls have success like that.
