OSMOND — The Osmond Community School Christmas concerts were held on a very chilly Thursday, Dec. 11, with the elementary students beginning the evening and the juniorsenior high following.
The fifth and sixth grade bands started off the evening, with the fifth grade playing “Jingle Bells,” “First Rockin’ Christmas” and “We Wish You A Rockin’ Christmas.” The sixth grade band performed “Rockin’ St.
Nick,” “Pat-A-Pan” and “Carold Of The Kings.”
The kindergarten students then began the vocal part of the program, singing “Snowmen Can’t March” and "Pictures With Santa." The first grad ers joined them for the next song, “A Little Bit Holiday.”
The elementary operetta this year was “Santa’s Holiday Playlist.” The premise is that the entire world has become so high tech, but has Santa?
He quickly finds out that his friends have moved into the world of the iPod, but he isn’t sure that is the best way to hear his favorite tunes. Various elves, reindeer, toy soldiers, Crystal Snowflake and even Mrs. Claus share their favorite playlists with Santa.
Songs included “Deck The Halls,” sixth grade; “Merry Christmas In The Motor City” and “AReal Life Country Christmas," fourth and fifth grades; "Broadway Lights," first, second and third grades; “Just A Little R And R,” second and third grades; “The Sounds Of Christmas,” sixth grade, and “Santa’s Holiday Playlist,” all grades.
After a short break, the junior high and high school students presented their program. The junior high started CONCERTS ARE HIGH TECH, LEAD SING-A-LONG things off with “Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!,” “Believe” and “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree.” The senior high mixed chorus then sang “I’ll Be Home For Christmas,” “Lirum, Lirum” and “Holiday Rock.”
The junior high concert band played three songs, “Bell Carol Rock,” “Joeux Noel” and “Deck The Halls With Rock ‘N’ Roll,” and the senior high band performed three as well: “The Nightmare Before Christmas,” “White Christmas” and “Christmas Exultations.”
The junior and senior high bands and choruses then invited the audience to join them in singing the “Christmas Finale,” which was a medley of three songs, “Joy To The World,” “It Came Upon A Midnight Clear” and “O Come All Ye Faithful.”
