PIERCE — P.E.O. Chapter BE recently participated in the Pierce Senior Center Festival of Trees. The chapter was so pleased to be part of this fun Christmas event and applauds Hausmann PT on winning Best Tree. Participating in this local festivity gave Chapter BE a chance to showcase the International Projects as gifts under their decorated tree.
All year long, loans and grants are made available to women of all ages working toward advancing their education. Two of the projects in particular are the ELF and PCE Grant.
The ELF, Educational Loan Fund, provides educational loans at 2% interest for post high school education including degree and certification programs.
The ELF requires proof of enrollment, one cosigner, and evidence of an ability to repay the loan.
The PCE, Program for Continuing Education, is specifically for women needing to return to school to advance the position they currently hold or to prepare for a change in employment or career. The maximum PCE grant is $4,000 and is a need-based grant.
The total of any grant is based on the applicant’s need and the availability of funds. Both of these opportunities require an interview and recommendation from the chapter.
The main mission of P.E.O. is to motivate, educate and celebrate women.
Chapter BE is always looking for ways to fulfill this goal.
Information about these projects is available by emailing [email protected]. A local chapter member will be glad to provide information on all of the P.E.O. International Projects. — Reporter
