(By Coach Leonard Risinger) The Plainview-Osmond Pirate bowling team competed in two matches last week, traveling to Humphrey on Tuesday and hosting Bancroft-Rosalie on Thursday.
Pirates vs. Bulldogs
The Plainview-Osmond Pirate bowling team traveled down to the alley in Humphrey to take on the Humphrey-Lindsay Bulldogs on Tuesday, Dec. 9.
Starting off with the Lady Pirates, they finally got to compete in the first competition and were not quite ready.
The Lady Bulldogs won first game 675-518, taking all 8 points. In the second game, the Lady Pirate did a bit better, taking 2 of the 8 points but losing 532-515.
There is only one baker’s game needed to award the 5 points. The Lady Pirates were able to take those 5 points, winning the game 111-101. Final score of the match was 14-7 in favor of the Lady Bulldogs.
Leading the Lady Pirates in taking points were seniors Natalee Gatz and Nyome Harding taking their point in the second game. High games during the first game were thrown by Natalee Gatz and fellow senior Meagan Wagner, with scores of 129 and 117, respectively. High games in the second game were Natalee Gatz and Nyome Harding with a 125 and 122, respectively. The Lady Pirates are now 1-1 on season.
The Pirates were trying to get their winning but the Bulldogs had different plans. The Bulldogs came out ready and beat the Pirates 861-534 and taking all 8 points. The second game was more of the first but the Pirates were able to take a half point. Second game was a final score of 767-580.
The Bulldogs had won the duel already but we needed to still award those 5 points. Unlike the Lady Pirates, the Pirates would lose the baker’s game as well, 135-104. Final score of the match was 20.5-0.5.
High scores in game one were from seniors Kooper Gubbels and Jaren Hergert with a 154 and a 122, respectively. The second game was Kooper Gubbels and senior Aiden Kemnitz with a 173 and a 137. The half point won was by Kooper Gubbels. The Pirates are now 0-3 on the season.
Pirates vs. Panthers
The Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers traveled to Main Street Alley to dual with the Plainview-Osmond Pirates on Thursday, Dec. 11. The Lady Pirates were trying their best, but Lady Panthers were a step ahead, winning the first game 607-520. The Lady Pirates lost all but 1 point in the first game.
The second game was an improvement, but each team improved with a final score of 664-546 in favor of Lady Panthers and the points 6-2.
PIRATES BOWL AT HUMPHREY, OSMOND
With the score of 13-3, there is only a need for one baker’s game to award the 5 points.
The Lady Panthers won that too with a score of 115-95 over the Lady Pirates. Final score is 18-3 in favor of the Lady Panthers.
Leading the Lady Pirates was junior Lucea Miller with a score of 149 and taking the lone point in the first game. Natalee Gatz had a 114 in the first game. The second game Natalee Gatz joined Lucea taking a point in the second game. Natalee had a 160 and Lucea had a 118 in the second game. The Lady Pirates are now 1-2 on the season.
The Panthers pounced on the Pi- rates in the first game, winning 660- 609 and taking 5-3 of the points. The second game the Pirates were able to fight back and win the game 712-606 and taking 7 of the 8 points.
Pirates led 10-6 after two regular games and need the best 2 out of 3 baker’s games to see who will win the dual. The Pirates came out on top in the first baker game winning 139-135.
However, the Panthers would take the second and third baker’s, 147-101 and 147-116, respectively. That means the Panthers would win the match 11-10 over the Pirates.
Leading the Pirates taking their points in game one and two were Jaren Hergert, Aiden Kemnitz, and Kooper Gubbels. High scores were from Jaren and Aiden with scores of 133 and 128, respectively in game one.
In the second game, winning their point was junior Donovan Heiman in addition to the other three. High scores in game two were Kooper and Aiden with scores of 193 and 160, respectively. Pirates are now 0-4 on the season.
