St. Mary’s students learn about the Jesse Tree
OSMOND — During the month of December the students spend time learning the Jesse Tree.
What is the Jesse Tree? The Jesse Tree is a visual and teaching tool that traces Jesus’ family line, especially through Joseph, as described in the Bible. It is named after Jesse, the father of King David.
The tradition comes from Isaiah 11:1: “A shoot shall come out from the stump of Jesse, and a branch shall grow out of his roots.”
Christians understand this “branch” to be Jesus, the promised Messiah.
Purpose of the Jesse Tree The Jesse Tree helps students: - See how Jesus fulfills Old Testa ment promises — Learn key Bible stories from Creation to Christ — Understand that God’s plan unfolded over many generations — Prepare spiritually for Christmas
