Nebraska Public Media premieres new season of storytelling

LINCOLN – From small-town innovators to heritage keepers, from artists and athletes to big city dreamers and everyday neighbors making extraordinary impacts, stories remind us that inspiration often lives right next door.

The 17th season of Nebraska Public Media's award-winning local television series "Nebraska Stories" premieres at 8 p.m. CT, Thursday, Jan. 15, and

continues Thursdays through April on Nebraska Public Media.

Upcoming episodes in this season include stories about: a 1931 photograph that reveals long-lost landmarks and moments from everyday life on downtown Lincoln streets, and a secret dining destination near Holdrege that offers patrons white linens, an elevated menu and a haunting legend that spices up its history.

Also this season, rooted in the rhythms of land and livestock, a Custer County rancher-poet turns everyday labor and legacy into verse, proving that faith, family and the Great Plains still shape a life’s true calling.

The masterful storytellers who produce “Nebraska Stories” travel statewide, serving as the modern archivists of Nebraska’s stories – both present and past. Enjoyed by viewers across the state for its feature-based, characterdriven storytelling, “Nebraska Stories” covers art, science, history, sports, performance, nature and more.

"Nebraska Stories" episodes repeat Fridays at 7:30 p.m. CT on Nebraska Public Media.

“Nebraska Stories” is funded in part by The Margaret and Martha Thomas Foundation and the Bill Harris and MarySue Hormel Harris Fund for the Presentation of Cultural Programming. The series is also funded in part by Phelps Memorial Health Center and the Nebraska Tourism Commission.

The local series is available for streaming on the PBS app. Learn more at NebraskaPublicMedia.org/nebraskastories.
