Milestone in Highway 275 project marked by state officials

NORFOLK - Gov. Jim Pillen joined officials with the Nebraska Department of Transportation on Tuesday, Jan. 20, to mark a major milestone in the long- running U.S. Highway 275 project.

During an event at Northeast Community College’s Lifelong Learning Center, Pillen and NDOT Director Vicki Kramer celebrated the final segment of the US-275 corridor officially going under contract.

NDOT officials said the US-275 corridor is a key transportation route in Nebraska, connecting northeast Nebraska to Interstate 80 and providing access to economic and essential services throughout the region. The corridor has been improved in segments during the past 15 years as part of a commitment NDOT made in 2011 when the state enacted the Build Nebraska Act.

The final segment of the corridor - from West Point to Wisner - is expected to begin construction in spring 2026, NDOT officials said.

NDOT officials also provided an update on other recent work along the corridor. The Scribner-to-West Point segment was completed in late 2024 after construction began in summer 2021.

Construction also began in April 2025 on a segment east of Norfolk, running from near Nebraska Highway 57 to the east junction with Nebraska Highway 15. Another project from East Junction 15 to Wisner began in October 2025, NDOT officials said.
