Game and Parks seeks grazing tenants

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking for early season intensive grazing tenants to graze along the Platte River for three central Nebraska Wildlife Management Areas.

Dogwood WMA by Overton, Blue Hole WMA by Elm Creek, and Bassway Strip WMA east of Kearney each have varied acres for grazing along with fencing required by the tenant. Grazing will begin April 1, 2026, and end June 1, 2026.

Bids will be accepted for grazing at these wildlife management areas until 11:59 p.m. CST on Jan. 31, 2026.

Game and Parks uses grazing to help manage noxious weeds and other invasive species at wildlife management areas, which provides better habitat for wildlife species.

Information about bidding was included in the Kearney Hub on Dec. 27, 2025 and Jan. 3, 2026. Interested parties can contact Aden Shorney, Wildlife Biologist, at 308-224-8077 for more information.
