(By Music Director Christalin Ginn) WAYNE — Osmond Community School band students proudly represented their school at the Lewis and Clark Conference Honor Band held Saturday, Jan. 17, at Wayne State College.
Despite blustery winter weather, students spent the day collaborating with musicians from across the conference and concluded the event with a successful concert.
Osmond brought a total of 24 students, including 14 junior high and 10 high school musicians, to participate in this prestigious honor band experience.
The following students were selected to represent Osmond in the junior high Conference Honor Band: Isabella Buol, Cadence Vaughn, Winter Wiseley, Kaitlyn Gubbels, Elliot Kumm, Olivia Hille, Sierra Koehler, Gwen Geneski, Jaxson Mill er, Tucker Thelen, Hunter Wheeler, Toby Koehler, Emmett Hoffman, and Alexander Fritz.
The following students represented Osmond in the high school Conference Honor Band: Katarina Miller, Clara Steinkraus, Meagan Wagner, Evynn Kumm, Justin Rohloff, Dawson Gansebom, Nickolas Kumm, Donovan Heiman, Michael Fritz, and Delilah Koehler.
Osmond students earned impressive recognition during the event, receiving six first-chair medals and two second-chair medals. First-chair medalists included Justin Rohloff on bass clarinet, Donovan Heiman on cornet/trumpet, Evynn Kumm on flute, Dawson Gansebom on baritone saxophone, Clara Steinkraus on first alto saxophone, and Nickolas Kumm on second alto saxophone.
In addition to the students’ musical success, Osmond was awarded the Conference Honor Band Attendance Award, given to the conference school with the largest audience in attendance. Strong support from parents, friends, and family helped earn this recognition.
Band staff expressed pride in the students’dedication, noting their commitment to spending a cold Saturday making warm, beautiful music with fellow musicians from across the conference.
