Lady Tigers go on the road for week’s games

Lady Tigers go on the road for week’s games
Korrine Moes (No. 1) works her way under the basket for a shot in game on Monday night

The Osmond Lady Tigers took to the hardwood three times last week with each game being played on the road.

Osmond vs. Winside

On Tuesday, Jan. 20, Osmond vis- ited Winside for a contest against the Wildcats. A slow first quarter by both teams on the offensive had Winside taking a slight advantage leading 7-5.

Winside used a strong second quar ter outpacing Osmond 15-7 to take a 22-12 lead into the break. Both teams were able to put together some good offensive possessions in the second half but Winside was able to outscore Osmond 35-28 to finish the game on top by a final of 57-40. The Tigers have been very competitive at points in games lately. We just need to find a way to make it be a full four quarter game for us. Korrine Moes led the Tigers with 18 points and 4 steals. Kaleigh Miller turned in another double-double as she finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds to go along with her team high 5 blocks.

Osmond vs. St. Mary’s

On Friday, Jan. 23, Osmond headed west for a competition with the St. Mary's Cardinals. Despite a strong defensive effort for the Tigers that held the Cardinals scoreless for a few stretches at times, the offensive end just couldn't find its rhythm and get going. The home Cardinals would take the victory with a 41-18 final score. Kaleigh Miller secured another double-double as she finished with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Carrie Kumm had a strong defensive game as she finished with 5 blocks, 2 steals, and was able to grab 11 rebounds as well.

Blizzard Buster

For a quick turn around, the Tigers loaded up bright and early Saturday morning, Jan. 24, to head north for South Dakota. Osmond was able to play in the 4th annual Blizzard Buster Classic in Irene, SD. This even had games scheduled all day long starting right away at 8:30 a.m. and finishing into the night.

Osmond played the second game of the day against the Viborg/Hurley Cougars. The Tigers struggled offen sively in the first half but played strong on the defensive end. The Cougars held a 15-8 lead going into halftime. Osmond had a strong consistent second half and got the game as close as a 3-point difference at one point. Free throws in the fourth quarter helped Viborg/Hurley extend that lead and seal the victory for them. Korrine Moes led the Tigers with 14 points.
