(By Coach Leonard Risinger) The Pirates travel to King’s Lanes in Norfolk to take on Norfolk Catholic Knights on Tuesday, Jan. 20.
Lady Pirates
The Lady Pirates were giving it their all, losing the first game 581-575 and only taking 2 of the points. The second game went against the Lady Pirates, losing 551-509 to the Lady Knights, but taking 3 points this time. After the regular two games were thrown, the score was 11-5, which meant the match was decided, but one baker's game was done to award those points. Lady Knights won that as well 90-82. Final score was 16-5. Winning their point in the first game were Scarlet Torrey and Meagan Wagner. High scores were thrown by Scarlet Torrey with a 129 and Natalee Gatz with a 128. Second game point winners were Meagan Wagner, Lucea Miller, and Natalee Gatz. High scores were Meagan Wagner with a 130 and Natalee Gatz with a 129. The Lady Pirate are now 3-13 on the season.
Pirates
The Pirates had a little bit more trouble with the Knights, losing the first game 774-653 and only getting one point. The second game was worse, losing 792-552 and not getting a point. After two regular games, the Knights won 15-1. The baker's game went to the Knights for a final score of 20-1 in favor of the Knights.
Winning the lone point was Dono van Heiman. High scores in the first game were Aiden Kemnitz with a 164 and Kooper Gubbels with a 149. Second game high scorers were Aiden Kemnitz and Kooper Gubbels with a 145 apiece. The Pirates are now 4-13 on the season.
Upcoming Events
The final dual for the Pirates was scheduled for Jan. 27 against Norfolk Catholic Knights in Osmond. That will be reported on in next week’s issue of the Osmond Republican.
The Pirates know where they are going to districts. The Pirates will head to Mockingbird Lanes in Omaha on Friday, Jan. 30. Start time is 9 a.m., so an early morning is in the cards. The Lady Pirates will head to Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln on Feb. 4.
If any Pirates qualify for state as a
team or individual, those days are Feb. 9 and 10.
