Lady Tigers get first win of the season
Carriana Kumm shoots basket in game against Madison Dragons

OSMOND — The Osmond Lady Tigers opened up last week’s games at home on Monday, Jan. 26, as they hosted the Madison Dragons. After a tightly contested first quarter, it was Madison who held a slim lead 11-10.

The Tigers used a strong second quarter of tough defense to hold Madison to only 3 points, all while Osmond put together a strong offensive quarter as well, scoring 15 points capped off by a 3-pointer by Korrine Moes at the buzzer to go into the halftime break.

Madison switched up their defense in the third quarter and really attacked the basket. This change cut into Osmond’s lead, but the advantage was still in favor of the Tigers at the end of the quarter, 33-30.

Osmond had multiple girls step up in the fourth quarter as they pulled away and finished with the victory 4835, their first of the season. Osmond had great performances from student athletes in this game.

Korrine Moes finished with 19 points, 17 of which she scored in the first half; her 10 rebounds completed the double-double.

Kaleigh Miller recorded another double-double as she finished with 13 points and grabbed a career-high 22 rebounds, 9 alone in the first quarter, and dished out a team-high 6 assists.

Carrie Kumm finished with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and had a team high of 3 blocks. Score by Quarter Osmond 10 15 8 15 = 48 Madison 11 3 16 5 = 35

Osmond vs. Walthill

On Thursday, Jan. 29, Osmond played in Walthill against the Blujays. Osmond struggled to find their rhythm offensively and Walthill put together a solid offensive performance.

Conference Tournament

Saturday, Jan. 31, was the first round of the Lewis and Clark Conference Tournament. Osmond was matched up with Winside and traveled to Winside for the night’s final game.

Winside started the game out with a 7-0 scoring run early in the game. Osmond battled back and by the end of the first quarter the score was tied up 8-8. Winside saw a scoring surge in the second quarter to take a 24-15 lead into halftime.

Osmond was able to slow down Winside in the third quarter, holding them to only 6 points. Unfortunately, Osmond couldn’t take advantage of that on the offensive end as the Tigers would only score 5 points in the quarter.

Winside continued to slowly pull away in the fourth quarter and finished with a 41-27 victory.

Korrine Moes paced the Tigers with 11 points and was shy of the double-double as she finished with 8 rebounds. Kaleigh Miller, despite fouling out in the contest, finished just shy of a triple-double with 8 points, 15 rebounds, and 9 blocks.
