BOARD OF EQUALIZATION PROCEEDINGS

March 2, 2026 The Pierce County Board of Equalization met pursuant to adjournment on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. with the following members present: John Steinkraus, Brad Albers and Carl Martinson. Co. Clerk Shannon Wragge, Co. Assessor Jean Lubke, Co. Attorney Ted Lohrberg, Zoning Adm. Heather McWhorter, Deputy Sheriff Dan Hallock and News Reporter Randee Falter were present. Notice of the meeting was given in advance as shown by the Certificate of Publication on file in the County Clerk's office. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice of the meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public. Chairman Albers called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. and presided. Chairman Albers stated that the Open Meetings Act is posted on the north wall of the board room with more copies available at the County Clerk's office.

Motion by Steinkraus, seconded by Martinson, to approve the agenda. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried.

The minutes of February 17, 2026, were approved as printed.

Motion by Steinkraus, seconded by Martinson, to approve Tax List Correction #937 to #951. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried.

There being no further business, Chairman Albers adjourned the meeting at 9:08 a.m. and will meet again at a regular meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. as County Board of Equalization, said meeting is open to the public. COMMISSIONERS PROCEEDINGS March 2, 2026 The Pierce County Board of Commissioners met pursuant to adjournment on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 9:10 a.m. with the following members present: John Steinkraus, Brad Albers and Carl Martinson. Co. Clerk Shannon Wragge, Co. Attorney Ted Lohrberg, Zoning Adm. Heather McWhorter, Deputy County Sheriff Dan Hallock, Custodian Linda Mattson and News Reporter Randee Falter were present.

Notice of the meeting was given in advance as shown by the Certificate of Publication on file in the County Clerk's office. Availability of the agenda was communicated in the advance notice of the meeting. All proceedings hereafter shown were taken while the convened meeting was open to the public. Chairman Martinson called the meeting to order at 9:10 a.m. and presided. Discussion was held on the renewal of the Salamander Program, 5 tracking apps that helps with tracking emergency workers if a disaster would happen. Pierce County will have 1 app and Pierce Fire will have 4 apps for a total cost of $750.00 split between the 2 entities, with Pierce Fire reimbursing Pierce County for their portion for 2026-2027. Motion by Albers, seconded by Steinkraus, to approve and authorize the Board Chairman to sign the NE-Pierce County EM Salamander Renewal Agreement for April 1, 2026-March 31, 2027. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Steinkraus, seconded by Albers, to Approve Underground Crossing for Pierce Telephone Co. Inc. for fiber optic in pt NW ¼ of Section 27, Township 25 North Range 3 West, Pierce County, NE. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried. Motion by Steinkraus, seconded by Albers, to Approve Underground Crossing for Nebraska Public Power District for fiber optic through the bottom 4 Townships of Pierce County, NE, from Hoskins to Neligh (see map). Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried.

Motion by Albers, seconded by Steinkraus, to Approve the Huwaldt Lot Split, 16.75 acres, in pt of the S ½ SE ¼ of Section 36, Township 28 North Range 1 West, Pierce County, NE. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried. Motion by Steinkraus, seconded by Albers, to Approve the Robert Hoffman Lot Split, 7.21 acres, in pt of the NE ¼ of Section 23, Township 28 North Range 4 West, Pierce County, NE. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried. Discussion was held on the solar farm road issues.

Custodian Linda Mattson and the County Board discussed the cement breaking up around the courthouse and the courthouse water heater. Mattson and the County Board went to inspect the water heater in the courthouse that has quit working and all 4 returned.

Motion by Albers, seconded by Steinkraus, to audit and allow the following claims presented for payment and instructed the County Clerk to issue checks for payment of same on the various funds. Roll call vote: Aye: Steinkraus, Albers and Martinson. Nay: None. Motion carried.
