PIERCE — The women of the United Church of Christ have been busy preparing for their church’s 128th annual Easter Social. The tea will be held on Monday, March 23, at 1:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall.
The first tea was held at the home of Mrs. Brande before Easter of 1898. She was the pastor’s wife. Easter was on April 10 of that year. After the church was built in 1901, the women had the tea in the church basement.
Women of the community and surrounding communities are welcome to attend. A free will offering will be taken. This year’s program will be on banners. They will also have scripture readings and seasonal hymns. Fun, food and fellowship will follow the program.
For those planning on attending, the women would appreciate a call to let them know, however, it is not mandatory. The church’s address is 303 S. Brown St. Calls may be made to Chris Griffith, 402-329-4797, Pam Flesner, 402-750-8632, or Sharon Lesser, 402-329-6667.
