Music department presents spring concert
OSMOND — The Osmond music department presented its spring concert on Monday, March 23, in the high school gym, which one again featured beautiful music conducted by high school music director Christalin Ginn. The concert included both junior and senior high choruses and concert bands, as well as the OHS jazz band. Emilie Prince was accompanist.
The junior high mixed chorus was first up with "Cross The Wide Missouri," followed by "Aurora Borealis." The senior high mixed chorus then sang "The River," featuring soloists Ashlyn Spangler and Piper Hoffman. They followed that with "Agnus Dei" and "A New Way." Next it was the junior high band's turn. Their first song was "Brandon Bay." The next was "Peer Gynt Suite #1," which included three movements: "Morn - ing Mood," "The Death Of Ase" and "In The Hall Of The Mountain King." The senior high concert band began with "A Mother's Hymn," which is reminiscent of the tune of "How Great Thou Art." This song featured soloist Donovan Heiman on the trumpet. "Prelude & Primal Danse" was performed next, with a solo by Carriana Kumm on the flute.
The evening ended with lively performances by the jazz band. The first song was "Bari, Bari Good," which featured solos by Dawson Gansebom on bari saxophone, Deanna Kumm and Emmett Hoffman on trumpet, and Erica Northcutt on alto saxophone.
