OSMOND — Three Osmond High School athletes have received Lewis and Clark Conference basketball honors for the Lady Tigers season.
Kaleigh Miller was a second team selection for the Lewis and Clark conference. The 5’10” senior led the Tigers this season in points, rebounds, and blocks. Breaking school records through the season, she proved to be a force in the paint for Osmond this season and throughout her career.
Korrine Moes received a third team nod for the Lewis and Clark Conference. The 5’7” sophomore guard was the Tigers’ second leading scorer this year. Her ability to score inside and outside, handle the ball, and be an effective rebounder was noticed by the conference coaches. Through her two seasons so far she has already scored 489 career points.
Carriana Kumm was named Honorable Mention for the Lewis and Clark conference. The 5’7 senior was the team’s leader in assists, and steals, the second leading rebounder and third leading scorer for Osmond. She was always tasked with defending the opposing team’s best player on defense, while still being effective on offense. Carriana did a lot for the team that didn’t always show up in a stat sheet.
The All-Conference selection took place on Tuesday, March 17, in Allen. Conference coaches nominate their players and then coaches go through a voting process where they would rank players. The top five players made up the first team, the next top five made up the second team, the next top five made up the third team. Any player who received a vote was named honorable mention. Coaches are not allowed to vote for their own players, leaving it up to their competitors to rank each player in the conference.
Area athletes named to the first team include Madyson Mlady and Kennedy Mlady of Bloomfield and Taylor Dawson of Wausa. Others on the third team from this area included Haley Eisenhauer of Bloomfield. Those from this area named honorable mention were Kysa Loecker of Bloomfield; Abbey Backer of Randolph and Reagan Gillian, Kenley Anderson and Avery Stevens.
Osmond Coach Bradley Wright received notice last week that Kaleigh was also selected to play in the "World Exposure Report" all-star game on Sunday,
March 22, in Lindsay.
