The Serra Club of Omaha Altar Server Awards, presented recently in a Mass with Archbishop Michael McGovern, highlights servers from Omaha-area parishes who demonstrate leadership and spiritual commitment. The event is sponsored by the Serra Club of Omaha, a Catholic organization dedicated to fostering and promoting vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
Recipients are typically chosen based on reverence (love of the Eucharist), dependability, initiative, a
sense of sacrifice, and proper appear ance (neat and clean). The award is designed for eighth graders, but sixth and seventh graders are eligible, generally allowing each server to receive the honor only once.
Receiving awards this year from St. Mary's Catholic Church were Gage Krienert and Kendra Gardner, eighth graders at Osmond Community School, and Michael Vinson, Emmett Hoffman and Klaire Stech, eighth grade students at St. Mary's Catholic School.
