4-H display cases at Pierce County fairgrounds to be updated

PIERCE — The Brandon Gerdes Memorial Foundation recently donated funds to the Pierce County 4-H Council to replace the glass display case used for exhibiting projects completed by the 4-H participants.

The current cabinets are nearly a century old and are showing their age with broken or cracked glass, unstable sliding doors, warped shelving, and rusted metal The new case will provide a safer, more attractive way to highlight the creativity and hard work of area youth.

According to the University of Nebraska Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources, the Nebraska 4-H Mission is to provide Nebraska youth with positive youth development opportunities that prepare them to become healthy, capable, and ready to engage in school, work, and life. Hands-on projects promote learning by doing in areas such as health, science, agriculture, and citizenship.

The 4-H members learn valuable skills that prepare them for future success. Pierce County has a long history of 4-H participation at the annual fair where their projects are displayed for the community to enjoy. The updated display case will ensure that these exhibits continue to inspire pride and appreciation for the dedication of 4-H youth and volunteers for years to come.

To become involved in your local 4-H, contact Ann Fenton at the Ex- tension Office in the Pierce County Courthouse, (402) 329-4821.
