Pray For Our President and Our Country, and Get Out and Vote!
I usually shy away from writing anything political, but the events in the past couple of days and honestly, during the past year have been very disturbing, to say the least, and I just have to say a few things.
The fact that there has now been a third assassination attempt on the President of the United States is one of the most disturbing things I’ve ever seen. There have been assassination attempts on presidents in the past, but I don’t remember (maybe I’m wrong) ever seeing THREE attempts on the same man in less than two years.
And it’s not just these attempts that scare me. It’s the attacks on law enforcement, on conservatives and on Christians that is also frightening. Thank goodness we live in a small town where, for the most part I believe, we don’t have to worry about someone attacking us in the street.
However, I have personally been attacked online for making a simple comment about supporting law enforcement. The person was apparently a relative of a (former) friend of mine who luckily lives in another town. I say former friend because even though I normally wouldn’t “unfriend” someone because of their political beliefs, and had actually tried kidding around with him about various things, he apparently didn’t care to back me up when this relative started spewing hate speech and calling me all kinds of vile names.
She even tried reaching out to my employers telling them to fire me, and sent something to the Norfolk Daily News. Who does that? Luckily my bosses backed me up when I showed them screenshots of the conversation.
But if you spend any kind of time online, you have, I’m sure, seen signs of this yourselves.
There are many radicals out there these days who, for some reason, believe the worst about some people with no proof at all except for the “fake news” that some of the big news corporations are putting out there.
We all need to keep fighting the good fight, for our country and for our fel low Christians. And one way to do that is to make sure and get out and vote in the mid-terms. It might not seem like a big deal since it’s not a presidential election year, but it could make a difference with who our state representatives are. So please, get out there and vote.
And pray — pray for our fellow man, our community, our state, our nation, and our President.
