OSMOND — The Osmond Community Fund (OCF) is building remarkable momentum—and the community is being challenged once again.

As OCF nears completion of the Dr. David and Leila Johnson Family Community Challenge, a campaign designed to grow local unrestricted assets by $450,000, a new opportu nity has already emerged to further strengthen Osmond’s future.

The original challenge was launched with a generous $100,000 lead gift from the family of Dr. David “Doc” and Leila Johnson. In addition, Nebraska Community Foundation com- mitted $50,000 upon the community successfully raising $300,000 in local

contributions. While the campaign runs through Dec. 31, 2027, the strong early response has inspired even greater investment.

An anonymous donor has now stepped forward with an additional $100,000 gift - sparking a challenge extension. Once again, Nebraska Community Foundation will match this effort with another $50,000 if the community raises an additional $300,000 over the next three years.

If both the challenge and extension are fully met, the Osmond Community Fund’s unrestricted endowment will grow by at least $900,000 - creating lasting impact for generations to come.

Unrestricted endowments function much like a community savings account, providing a permanent source of support for local needs and opportunities. While a portion of the earnings is granted each year to support community projects and programs, the principal continues to grow — ensuring long-term sustainability.

This substantial growth in endowed assets will enable OCF to make grants to a multitude of worthy causes and important projects in the coming years, particularly those that further the fund’s mission to “make Osmond the best place to live, work and thrive for generations to come.”

OCF’s volunteer advisory committee is currently developing plans to begin accepting grant applications from qualifying nonprofit organiza tions, with funding expected to support impactful projects across the community including youth programs, park enhancements, beautification efforts and other local improvements.

Established in 2019 as an affiliated fund of Nebraska Community Foundation, OCF remains focused on reaching its fundraising goals while increasing awareness about the power of endowed giving. Community members are encouraged to get involved and support the effort - gifts of all sizes make a meaningful difference.
