(By Coach Dante Schmit) OSMOND — The golf team continued its busy spring schedule with strong efforts at three recent meets, highlighted by an unforgettable moment from Kooper Gubbels on the course.
At the Cedar Catholic Invitational on April 28, Kooper Gubbels led the way for the team with a solid round of 88. Dawson Gansebom finished with a 113, while Meagan Wagner carded a 114 as the team battled through challenging conditions and tough competition.
The following meet at the Conference Tournament held at Rolling Hills on Monday, May 4, saw improvement from several golfers. Gubbels shot an impressive 83 and earned a seventh-place finish overall against a competitive field. Gansebom added a 116 for the team, while Wagner finished with a 124.
The team then traveled to the Niobrara meet on Wednesday, May 6, where several golfers posted strong performances. Gubbels continued his excel- lent play with a 78, good enough for a fifth-place finish overall. Gansebom finished with a 105, Wagner carded a 103, and Nickolas Kumm rounded out
the scoring with a 148.
The highlight of the season so far came during the final hole at the Niobr -
ara meet when Gubbels recorded an incredible hole-in-one. Using a 7-iron from 155 yards out, he aced the final hole of the day, giving teammates and spectators a moment they will not soon forget. Hole-in-ones are rare accomplishments in golf, making the shot an exciting milestone and a memorable finish to the tournament.
With continued improvement and strong performances across the lineup, the team looks forward to finishing the season on a high note.
