‘Rucking’ for suicide awareness

‘Rucking’ for suicide awareness

Bo Ketelsen of Martinsburg, a retired military person "rucking" (walking with a weighted backpack) across Nebraska on Highway 20 to raise awareness about suicide prevention and mental health, traveled through Osmond early Sunday morning, May 17. Members of American Legion Post 326 and others were waiting to greet him (shown above) as he walked through. Those present included Dave Kruse (left), Shelley Kruse, Alison Dennis, Jerry Dennis, Roger Folkers, Boyd Doyle and Dwight Kahny.

Bo began his journey along the Medal of Honor Highway on May 1 at the Wyoming border, and completed his walk on Monday, May 19, at his hometown of Martinsburg. Along the way, a number of towns offered lodging or food, while the people greeted him with smiles, signs, prayers and cheering.

In Osmond, Boyd Doyle played a beautiful rendition of "Amazing Grace" on the violin and Shelley Kruse said a prayer with Bo before he headed back down the road. The Osmond Mini Mart also donated some drinks.
