Walk To The Rock app offers interactive experience at Chimney Rock

LINCOLN — Just in time for summer traveling, Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation (NSHSF) is inviting visitors to experience the trails to Chimney Rock in a whole new way with the launch of Walk To The Rock, now available on Apple and Google Play. The app offers a self-guided, interactive experience that brings history to life through engaging digital storytelling.

Designed for both locals and visitors, the app uses stories, photos, and audio to guide you along the trail, offering a peek into the lives, challenges, and dreams of the pioneers who once passed this way. Through a series of curated tours, users can explore at their own pace while uncovering stories, landmarks, and moments that have shaped Chimney Rock over time.

“The StQry app helps bring Walk to the Rock to life in a fun and engaging way,” said Leslie Fattig, Executive Director of the Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation. “Visitors can explore the trail at their own pace while learning more about the history, stories, and significance of Chimney Rock through interactive content right on their phones. It’s a great way to create a deeper connection to the experience.”

Explore the Trails Through 4 Self- Guided Tours: 1. Trail A — A 1.5-mile path drawing visitors deeper into the sights, sounds, and stories of the 1800s.

2. Trail B— This quarter-mile tour honors the Native nations who call this land home for centuries.

3. Trail C — A .75-mile path that takes you through the high plain’s prairie.

4. Trail D - The Community Trail is a short .16-mile walk from the Ethel S. and Christopher J. Abbott Visitor’s Center to Trail C.

The app is powered by STQRY and funded through a grant from the Scotts Bluff Visitors Bureau, a digital platform that helps destinations share their stories through interactive, media-rich self-guided experiences. Visitors can enjoy audio narration, historic images, interactive maps, and location-based content, making the experience engaging and accessible for a wide range of audiences.

Walk To The Rock is available now for free on Apple and Google Play.
