OSMOND — The weekend of June 27 and 28 was a very hot, but very busy one in Osmond, and included a number of events all around town.

The Chrome N Smoke Truck Show was held Friday through Sunday. In addition to the truck show, there were numerous food vendors and music performances, and activities for the kids, with several bounce houses and face painting.

Legion Holds Open House

On Saturday, June 27, American Legion Post 326 held an open house from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at its new location on State Street. Residents were able to see the newly-renovated “residence” of the local military service units, have a meal of hot dogs and chips, and buy tickets for a prize drawing which will be held at a future date.

Alumni Reunion Activities

Also on Saturday, the 36th annual OHS alumni reunion was held, which included coffee and cocktail hour, tours of Osmond Community BUSY WEEKEND INCLUDES TRUCKS, MUSIC, LEGION School, alumni banquet, roll call of the honored classes, speaker, and announcement of the latest member of the OHS Hall of Fame. That story is included elsewhere on the front page.

The Ganseboom fireworks show was once again the perfect cap on the busy day on Saturday. More pictures from the weekend will be printed next week as space allows.

Ganseboom Rocks the House

The Ganseboom fireworks show was the final event on Saturday night, bringing a fantastic patriotic end to the day. As usual, the Ganseboom crew “rocked the house” and drew a big round of applause from everyone who had gathered in the northeast part of town to see the show.

Pancake Feed, Parade held Sunday

The Osmond Fire Department held its annual pancake feed on Sunday, June 28, at the city auditorium with a good-sized crowd in attendance.

In the afternoon, many braved the sweltering heat to line State Street for the parade, which included many of the semis from the truck show as well as other floats and entries from the community.

Among the many entries in the parade was Osmond’s new ambulance, which was delivered not long ago, as well as trucks, tractors, several businesses, and several fire trucks once again bringing up the rear. Jim Schmit was once again the announcer for the parade.
