Pierce County Visitors Bureau awards grants
PIERCE – The Pierce County Visitors Bureau meeting on Thursday, April 4, was called to order by Chairman Robert Wehrer at 3 p.m. at the Pierce County Courthouse. Roll call was taken with members Kelly Hodson, Robert Wehrer, and Jean Bierschenk present. Julie Newman and Rick Higgins were absent. Representatives from the Pierce Historical Society, Pierce Threshing Bee and Norfolk Area Visitor’s Bureau were also in attendance.

15 seniors to graduate from OHS on Saturday
OSMOND – High school careers will come to a close for 15 Osmond High School seniors on Saturday, May 4. Commencement ceremonies will take place in the OHS gym at 2 p.m.

WSC holding two graduation ceremonies
WAYNE Wayne State College will hold commencement ceremonies for graduate and undergraduate students on Saturday, May 4, in the college's historic Willow Bowl amphitheater. The graduate student ceremony will be at 10 a.m. and the undergraduate ceremony will be at 1:30 p.m. In case of inclement weather, the ceremonies will be held in Rice Auditorium.

Junior high boys compete in Creighton invite, conference meet
The Osmond boys' junior high track team competed in two meets during the past week.

Guenther medals in Conference Championships
Senior Baylen Guenther shot rounds of 44-43 for an 87 total a 12th place finish in the Lewis and Clark conference golf championships. He had to go to a playoff hole for the win and birdied the first playoff hole. This marks the second year Guenther has secured a conference medal. Freshman Kooper Gubbels shot his best career round to date with rounds of 47-43 for a 90 total. His total missed the medal group by only one stroke. Kooper finished in 16th place in the 64 player field. Soph Meagan Wagner shot a 135 total for the tigers. Ponca won the conference team title as well as top individual honors. Hartington Invitational Osmond played in the Hartington invitational last week on Tuesday. No Tigers medaled but Baylen shot rounds of 51-46 for a 97 total and Kooper shot rounds of 51-51 for a 102 total. The boys finished in 21 st and 31st place, respectively.

Xander Brown fourth at Classic
NORFOLK – The Norfolk Classic was held on Wednesday, April 24,, a day earlier than scheduled because of a forecast of poor weather conditions on Thursday. The best athletes from the area came to the Norfolk Track & Field Complex to compete for the top spot in each event.

2023 poultry numbers are up, value is down
LINCOLN – The value of egg production in Nebraska during 2023 was $310 million, down from $324 million in 2022, according to the USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service.
