Mrs. Sovereign died Wednesday, July 22, 2026, in Elkhorn.

Julie was born on Jan. 5, 1966, to William and Dorothy (Koehler) Buchholz in Norfolk. She grew up in Osmond, attending Immanuel Lutheran grade school and graduating from Osmond High School in 1984. Growing up, Julie played many sports, including softball, volleyball, basketball and track, and also enjoyed music and singing. On June 14, 1986, she married Tony Sovereign at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Osmond. They were blessed with two children: Hollyann and Tanner, and they raised their family in Elkhorn. For the last 29 years, Julie worked for CSG Systems as a technical support analyst. In her free time, Julie enjoyed fishing, riding motorcycles, and play ing sand volleyball. She also coached Club Volleyball with her best friend, Vicky. She had a love for music that she shared with her children, often singing and playing music with Hollyann and Tanner. Julie also liked to visit her family as often as possible. She was a big fan of the Cornhuskers, especially football and volleyball. She enjoyed country music, but “Purple Rain” by Prince was her favorite song, and while she liked to watch all kinds of scary movies, “Tombstone” was her favorite film. Julie's favorite food was a delicious brownie. Julie was a beautiful woman inside and out with a passionate and outgoing personality. She was very funny, gracious, and generous. She had a deep personal strength and was a fighter. Julie was also full of love for her family and friends. Julie was preceded in death by her father, William Buchholz; sister, Connie Bauer; father-in-law, Ron Sovereign, and mother-in-law, Barb Sovereign. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, Tony Sovereign; daughter, Hollyann Sovereign (Connor Hogue); son, Tanner Sovereign (Kenzi Isaac); mother, Dorothy Bauermeister; sister, Teresa (Kevin) Ullrich, and brother, David Buchholz.
